Why Fire Doors Cannot Be Bought Like Standard Doors

A fire door is a tested system. Correct specification and components matter for true safety and compliance.
Always trust manufacturers who are third party certified. Do not gamble on safety.

What is an FD30 Fire Door?
  • 30 minutes fire door protection
  • Usually 44mm thickness
  • Ideal for residential and light commercial
What is an FD60 Fire Door?
  • 60 minutes fire protection
  • Usually 54mm thickness
  • For high-risk and compartment areas
FD30 & FD60 vs FD30s & FD60s - What’s the Difference?

FD30 & FD60

  • Provides 30 / 60 minutes of fire resistance
  • Tested to standards such as BS 476 Part 22 or BS EN 1634-1
  • Designed to resist the spread of fire only

FD30s & FD60s

  • Provides 30 / 60 minutes of fire resistance, plus
  • Includes smoke control (the “s” stands for smoke seals)
  • Fitted with intumescent strips combined with cold smoke seals
  • Helps restrict the passage of smoke at ambient temperatures, before the fire fully develops

Why This Matters

Smoke is the primary cause of fatalities in fires, often before flames spread. FD30 and FD60 doors will not prevent smoke leakage unless smoke seals are included. FD30s and FD60s doors are typically required in escape routes, corridors, and protected stairways

Our internal solid core veneer fire doors are
available in FD30 (30 minute) and FD60 (60
minute) fire ratings, offering reliable fire
protection while maintaining a clean and
modern appearance suitable for a wide
range of interiors. We also offer FD30s and FD60s (s for Smoke Seals)

Our external doors are available in FD30 and
FD60 in Plywood Paint Grade and Primed.

These fire doors are designed with a natural
timber veneer finish that complements many
commercial and residential environments.
The simple, timeless design allows the door
to blend seamlessly with both contemporary
and traditional settings.

The doors are veneered from edge to edge
and are supplied finished with a clear
factory-applied polyurethane lacquer to
enhance durability and highlight the natural
character of the veneer.
