The frame is the fixed surround secured to the wall opening. It is where the hinges, latch and intumescent seals are installed, and it provides the anchoring point for the entire door assembly. In a fire, the frame must hold the door leaf in place, prevent distortion and maintain the correct clearances so the door can perform as tested.

The architrave conceals the gap between the frame and the wall opening and provides a finished appearance. While decorative, it must be suitable for use with fire-rated assemblies and installed correctly to avoid compromising the fire stopping around the frame.

The vision panel is fitted with fire-rated glass and compatible glazing systems that have been tested as part of the complete fire door assembly. The glass type, glazing bead and installation method must match the original fire test evidence to ensure the door maintains its rated performance.
